Happy Memorial Day

28 May

Were shutting down the Studio for the Memorial Day weekend!  I thought I would post a few of my favorite red, white a blue rooms to inspire you. I also wanted to share a few pictures from my Dad’s Military Retirement a few weeks ago.  He served over 30 years in our Air National Guard and retired as a Colonel! I am so fortunate to have a father that taught me what it is to have a love of country. Have a safe and relaxing 3 day weekend, put out that American Flag and say THANK YOU to all of those brave men and women who keep our country safe!  See you next week.

Sweet Dreams…Reclaimed

26 May

I have been behind on my blogging so I’m finally sitting down to update!

I’m excited to share a sneak peak of a custom project for one of my new projects. My client wanted his master bedroom to be masculine, comfortable and unique. When he told me about this piece of walnut and how he wanted it to be his headboard, I was dying to see it!  We are still waiting on the details and history of the walnut . Here are a few images of the piece he selected and the bed in progress.  Up next? A custom 6’x5′ coffee table made from reclaimed cypress. I promise to share the details as soon as we finalize the direction.

Drumroll Please!

Tick Tock

13 May

Clocks…my new obsession. Lately I have been noticing clocks everywhere and have even started a “clocks” folder in my inspiration images file.  I found myself catching up on my favorite blogs and singing Ke$ha’s Tick Tock, that will drive everyone around you crazy!  I’ve been so busy, stressed and overworked that I decided to have a little Abbe time every night before I shut it down.  Maybe the clock obsession was my subconscious trying to tell me that there are only 24 hours in a day.  I’m out of Abbe time for the day so enjoy the pics!

Missing My Girls

12 May

I really don’t like to flood the blog with personal post but I couldn’t resist…I’m missing my girls! I was organizing all of  my project images and came across these precious shots of Caddo & Ivy. Caddo is a Brittany Spaniel and Ivy is a German Shorthair Pointer. They have been at “bird dog school” for the past two weeks and I am really missing their furry faces and sweet kisses. My husband thinks I’m crazy for treating bird dogs to such a spoiled life! But, when the girls are in the house they must have manners. A girl’s gotta keep her new bedding and furniture clean somehow.

When Melanie Johnson photographed our master bedroom, we had the girls “pose” for the camera. Caddo was shy of course while Ivy was dying to get all of the attention….and the treat that was in my hand!

Melanie also snagged a few outdoor shots that afternoon.  Excuse the icky backyard, Texas had  a rough winter!

Chasing a squirrel across the yard.

I swear they knew Melanie was photographing them, they were posing and waiting for her to take the shot.

Checking out the mail man.

Barking Hound Village – Austin Update

11 May

Last year we updated an old steak house in Dallas for Barking Hound Village’s new location. White picket fence kennels, indoor & outdoor play rooms and a doggy spa were the biggest changes from the old space.  Now that the Dallas location is a year old, it is time to update Barking Hound’s existing Austin location.

The Austin Barking Hound Village needed a different approach. The existing building is more eclectic than the old Dallas steakhouse and we needed to update the space while business was still running.  The owners wanted to make Barking Hound Austin the ONLY all suites daycare and boarding facility in town.  They also knew that their Austin clients loved the space as is, so they didn’t want to compromise the overall laid back feel of the location. The white picket fence kennels and suites were a huge upgrade to the space and after a fresh coat of paint, the rooms took on a fresh new look.  We added new seating, storage solutions and a small retail area in the lobby. But my favorite update in Austin is the “spa”! With a few small changes, the spa area was transformed in to a chic place where any puppy would love to have a bath!

Take a look at the updated Barking Hound Village Austin!
