You may not have been born in a barn…

2 Sep

I love love love barn doors!  Nope, I wasn’t born in a barn but I did grow up on a horse farm.  In our barn, the huge sliding doors were used to gain easy access to feed and tack rooms. They allowed for a larger opening to bring in equipment without the pain  of a swinging door.

These days, you see old reclaimed doors that may have come from an old barn or warehouse.  I love nothing more than seeing a modern space, with something old to bring in warmth and interest.  The modern versions that are painted or made to look “old” are perfect for adding a bit of color to a space.

Last year I worked on a outdated bungalow and we used a “barn” door in the bathroom. It worked perfectly because there was no room for a swinging door and tucking away the washer and dryer was a must.

Here are a few of my favorite barn door images:

I luv your blog post on barn doors. I’ve been trying to figure out where I can incorporate it in my house. I’m thinking about the basement. The yellow door is my fav!
